Nooks & Crannies

Literally...
My, Our  Delaney's Nook is her favorite toy this week. She loves the puzzles because they are easy for her to complete, and I love seeing her show me the way to solve each one.  She also has a favorite spot for the books we read each night- the little cranny under her pillow. The routine for bedtime is that we must read two books each night before we pray and go to bed. She picks one, we pick one and then they go under the pillow.

Some of her favorites this week are these...
The favorite cranny to kiss this week is Sam Nolan's neck...
Sam Nolan is into grabbing his shirt these days, or anything he can get his hands on.
And then we must bathe every nook and cranny from all the kisses...
Which he's okay with since bathtime is one of his favorite times of the day. He absolutely LOVES running water.
Cute Sam Nolan moment of the week:
He has been sleeping better this week! He slept from 9:00-2:45 last night, and only woke up once to get a pacifier. One morning this week he woke up just in time for me to see his eyes open, get a big stretch out, and flash a big smile at me. He usually cries when he wake up, so this was a precious "morning sunshine" moment.  :)

Cute Delaney moment of the week:
We visited Nana and Granddaddy this week, and on the way home we were able to see the beautiful sunset over the Logan Martin lake. Eric and I asked Delaney who made the sunset? She replied, "God made that. He made me, trees, butterflies..."(she went on to list things). Then we asked her about what she learns at school when they go to chapel (she attends chapel every week at her daycare-which we love!!). She said they talk about "The old "Tessimen" and the new "Tessimen." I was really surprised at how well she pronounced the word "testament"! Then, after singing about Jesus and God for about 5 minutes she said, "Let's talk about God." So, we had the best conversation about God and how great He is. After discussing how He is in heaven, but He is also everywhere, at the end of the conversation
Delaney asked, "What city does He live in?" Eric replies, "Heaven, U.S.A." So cute. :)

When the cat's away...

The mouse will relax...
 He was all smiles yesterday...
He was so fun and energetic!
And even took a nap (or two) without any interruptions...
I didn't have the heart to tell him it was his two month appointment, where he would have 4 immunizations. He also weighed almost 14 pounds and was 23 inches long. I was excited that Dr. Miller told me he would start sleeping 6-8 hours now, and that we should put him in his own room to sleep. When the nurse came in to give him his shots, he took them like a champ, and I was really surprised at how quickly he appeared to have gotten over the pain. That was until last night when he was up EVERY hour! He was very fussy and upset, so this morning he is grumpy and irritable. Or maybe that's me. :)
But how can I be grumpy for long with these two cuties staring at me!

Friday Favorites

Is it already time for "Friday Favorites"?
 Oh my, goodness!!
Delaney's favorite place of the week was the Trussville carnival. Nannie and Pop took her, and she enjoyed the rides, food, and company! :)
 What else do we love?
...watching Sam Nolan laugh a lot lately. He thinks it's funny when we stick our tongue out at him or make funny noises. I haven't been able to catch a big laugh on camera, but I'm hoping to soon.
Delaney had pajama day at school today, which is why these pictures are of her new favorite purchase...Dora pajamas!! When is this child going to move on to a new character???
And my favorite thing this week is seeing Delaney and Sam Nolan interract with each other. Delaney has begun to understand and love her brother (most of the time). She also says, "I love my brother, Mommy" when she either really does like him or when he's getting the attention. She's making progress. Sam Nolan is also learning to ignore and maybe like the hugs that are a little too tight and the wet kisses from her.  They are both very blessed to have a wonderful sibling in each other. :)
But don't think you'll be getting those hugs and kisses. Delaney will tell you (and Eric in this picture), "Don't get too close to his face." She's definitely heard that a lot lately!

Where have we been?
 She's not telling...
Maybe doing a craft with sidewalk paint...

Or just being sweet... (most of the time)
I wasn't able to get to the blog last Friday, but here are our "Friday favorites" from last week:
I found a recipe for sidewalk paint, and Delaney loved it! It was super easy and she played for about 15 minutes!
Sam Nolan relaxed and had a bottle while his sister was playing...
After we got messy, she took off her bow, got in a swimsuit and ran through the sprinklers.
Sam Nolan relaxed some more...
Another favorite thing is seeing the icecream man for the first time this season! We heard the music, rushed outside and Nannie pulled up just in time to take Delaney to get a Tweety bird popsicle.
My favorite thing was being able to see our little man turn two months old!
He turned two months old March 17th, and he weighs 13 pounds 13 ounces.
Smiling boy...
We haven't been to the doctor for his two month visit yet, but we did go to the doctor. I had noticed a place on his lip that he has had since he was born. It started out small, and I assumed it was a birthmark. As he grew, it began to grow and change color. No one even notices it, but since I give him bottles and see him all the time, I know every inch of him. :) I read a quote the other day that pretty much described how I acted about the little spot on his lip: "A worried mother does better research than the FBI." The doctor (who is not our regular pediatrician) examined it, and told me it was hemangioma. He then told me it was a tumor and blah blah blah. He said benign, but that didn't register at that moment. All I could focus on was the word tumor as he left the room to get pictures to show me. When he returned I had a small breakdown, he assured me it was fine, and I tried to compose myself. I'm not sure if showing me the pictures of what hemangiomas look like in all states of severity and locations on the body was the best way of going about reassuring me, but by the time he was finished I felt like Sam Nolan's "blood vessel buildup" was minimal to say the least. The doctor told me there is no way to know how big it will get and when it will go away, but that we can laser it off or treat with steroids when we think it's time. He also examined the birthmark on the back of Sam Nolan's head and told me it would never go away. I think it's just an "angel kiss."
Sam Nolan will never be embarassed about his birthmarks, but he may be a bit upset when he gets older and sees the picture of his favorite place this week...his sister's swing. He sleeps in it, plays in it, laughs in it. He loves it!

"Favorite Things" Friday

Since I have a love of alliteration, Fridays, and Oprah's favorite thing episodes, I have decided the Roberts will start having "Favorite Thing" Fridays to record what we are in love with at the moment.
This week, we have a lot of favorite things. I will try not to have so many favorite things to share next week, but we are trying new things all the time these days and loving much of it.
Our first favorite things of the week are the new Easter eggs we purchased at Cottontails this year. For some reason, everytime I get something seasonal with the babies' names on it, it makes me feel so grown-up and amazingly content with where we are in life.
Delaney chose the spot in the yard to put her egg.
One of Sam Nolan's new favorite things is to be put in Eric's hand and flown around. This was very early in the morning, so he still had his pajamas on.

This isn't really a new favorite thing, but we still love playing at the park.

We have an obsession passion for books, so of course the library has become a new topic in our discussions of where to go for the day.
This is one of my new favorite activities for Delaney to do. Not only does she LOVE drawing on things she's not suppose to draw on, but with a few rules set, she can't get into trouble with this!

I don't remember how much they were, but they were wekk worth the money.

We dyed Easter eggs the other day. She wasn't all that interested in the process...
You notice the frustration in her face, and the look of relaxation in Sam Nolan's face.
But she thought the finished product was pretty funny.
You know we had to put our new favorite food. Not only is it the best frozen pizza I've ever had, it is healthy and full of veggies. I didn't think Delaney would eat it, but she gobbled it down!
We have tried this brand before, and wasn't all that inspired to buy it anymore. But I gave it another try, and this will definitely be bought again...
Along with Delaney's birthday on April 15th, the next favorite thing we are looking forward to is Sam Nolan's christening on April 22nd. Can't wait!
This information is definitely a current event...Delaney is going #2 in the potty!! I think it is due to her being ready and also to our favorite prizes in the bathroom.
There you have it. Our favorite things of the week!
